The Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane

Is about the story of Henry Fleming who is an american young soldier, His dream when was a boy was to be in to war and to be a hero. But when Henry is at war his point of view changes and he quickly discover the real life of a solder is. He has an internal struggle whith mind: if he runs everybody was laughing of him, but

if is in the battle he is going to die.

The place is in USA at The American Civil war from 1861 to 1865.

The main character is Henry Fleming: He is a young soldier, He always dreams with war and be a hero since he was a child, He in the story sometimes is coward (he leaves the battle beacause he was afraid) but when he is hurt in the head he feels angry with the officer and he start to feel brave.

Henry when was a child always dream about war and to be a hero. When Henry is older, the north of the USA is at war against the south, everybody is talking about war and are full of stories about battles. Henry leaves his home and joins the army. He felt very proud about his decision but he discovers the really true about soldier life: He spend months in the same army waiting for fight, march and learn how shoot. when is the time to fight agains the enemy Henry ask himsel if he will be a hero or he will run? Is he a good and brave soldier or not? Henry  was tested in the all story if he are stonger than the others. But he always was asking if he is right o wrong?

so before I finish, this book shows us how was war and life of soldier was it and how a men at the end turn into a brave men. In my personally opinion I don't like this book because you know how is going to finish the story, you don't have , is a typical story about war and a person who win a medall for this bravery at war and in the middle of the story I didn't catch the plot because I know how is going to finish without read before this book, I think the author is boring because the author doesn't try to get into the story and makes you feel in the book and catch your attention.

 

I recommend this book only if this is you first year studing english for learning vocabulary because you are going to find some words that I have never heard.
